At the official website of legal information was published the Presidential Decree «On the preparation and conduction of the XIX World Youth Festival and students» on January 19. In order to prepare and conduct the Festival, Organizing Committee WFYS 2017 was formed. The First Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration — Sergey Kiriyenko was appointed as its Chairperson.
In the near future, a number of federal and international events, including the presentation of WFYS 2017 and thematic session in the framework of the Youth Forum of ECOSOC in the UN headquarters in New York on January 30-31 will be held in the framework of work on the popularization of the Festival.
Currently, regional preparatory committees, which will be engaged in the formation of the delegations of the Russian participants, were established in all regions of Russia. Since October 2016, the citizens of Russia and other countries can apply an application for participation in the Festival on russia2017.com official website.
XIX World Festival of Youth and Students will be the largest international event in the field of youth cooperation. It will be held from 14 to 22 October 2017 Sochi. It is expected that the Festival will be attended by about 20 000 participants, half of them — foreign nationals from all five inhabited continents of the Earth, from more than 150 countries. The Festival will bring together the most progressive youth of the planet — the leaders of youth NGOs, representatives of creative professionals, engineers, journalists, teachers and scientists, politicians and many others. A number of foreign countries will form their delegation composed of more than 250 representatives.
Earlier, in 2015, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs organized work on this application process on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation — Vladimir Putin. During the evaluation visit to Russia, the delegation of WFDY management made the decision this year in February, that our country will host the WFYS 2017.
