At the UN headquarters in New York VI Youth Forum ECOSOC (UN Economic and Social Council) takes place. This year, within its framework, the Russian delegation made a presentation of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students program. Events in the format of the thematic platforms are held both days of the forum on January 30 and 31. The Chairperson of the National Youth Council of Russia, head of the National Preparatory Committee or the WFYS 2017 – Grigory Petushkov presents youth public associations of Russia. Petushkov expressed at the opening of the forum on January 30, speaking about the history of the festival movement, about the conditions of participation and the process of preparation.
The special envoy of UN Secretary General for Youth Affairs — Ahmad al Hendavi, attended at the presentation, expressed his hope, that the Festival in Sochi will help people of the world to unite and overcome the challenges facing humanity. «At the time, when there are so many complexities and difficulties in world politics, I’m counting on the fact that people can get together and try to chart a new way forward, based on mutual understanding, recognizing each other as well as people’s ability to act as peacekeepers and to promote the (social economic) development «, — he stressed.
The forum is scheduled to discuss the formation of the National Preparatory Committees, country quotas for participation in the Festival, the Russian regional program, and the main stages of preparation. The Russian delegation takes part in the ministerial table and a number of bilateral meetings with ministers of youth policy of other countries’.
On January 30, at the meeting of Ministers of youth policy and the Heads of the Agencies for Youth Affairs of the United Nations member countries, the Acting Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) — Alexey Palamarchuk told about the future of the Festival and invited forum participants to join the organized sites «#WFYS2017. Feel the future! Be leader!».
On January 30, the program to attract the public ambassadors of the Festival was also presented. In the near future, along with Russian cultural figures, athletes, public figures it will be well-known and respected in the youth environment, citizens of other countries.
World Festival of Youth and Students will pass in Russia from 14 to 22 of October. On the day of its opening in Moscow will pass the International Parade of students, while the main events will be held in Olympic Park, in Sochi. According to the organizers, the forum will be attended by over 20 thousand. Young people from 150 countries, including representatives of NGOs, journalists, teachers and politicians.
