On March 26-28, 2018 Chairperson of the National Youth Council of Russia G. Petushkov took part in the 38th meeting of the European Steering Committee on Youth in Budapest (Hungary). On the agenda were the discussion of the relevant developments in the youth sector of the Council of Europe. The Head of the Youth Department, Antje Rotemund, addressed the members of the Joint Council and the Department on the occurrences and events of the Council of Europe, which took place since the last meeting in October 2017.
Reports on the activities of the Department for this period were reviewed and adopted. The Consolidated strategy of the future youth sector was discussed within the current budgetary situation. The thematic discussion «Shrinking space for civil society and youth organisations: contemporary challenges and solutions» was decided to be held in 2018, goals, tasks and methodology were defined during the meeting. The places and dates of the meetings in 2019 were also agreed upon. The Joint Council on Youth agreed to organise:
— its first meeting in 2019 in Budapest on 25-27 March;
— its second meeting in 2019 in Strasbourg on October 14-16, 2019.
It should be noted that the National Youth Council of Russia, as the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, has for many years been the main partner of the non-governmental sector in implementing the Framework Programme between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Council of Europe on cooperation in the field of youth policy.
