The monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Konev was demolished in the capital of the Czech Republic

03.04.2020

Today the monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Konev, under whose command the troops of the 1st Ukrainian front the Czech capital was liberated from the Nazi invaders, was demolished in the capital of the Czech Republic.

The situation with the monument of the Soviet commander, Hero of the Soviet Union awarded twice, knight of the order of Victory to Ivan Konev is a disgrace, since such events are a belittling of the importance of those glorious and tragic pages of history to which they are dedicated.

The demolition of the monument humilliates the descendants of those who thanks to Marshal Konev now walk peacefully around Prague instead of living under the brutal oppression of the fascists.

The National Youth Council of Russia, as an association of the country’s largest youth organizations, strongly condemns such provocative attempts to falsify history and disrespect for the memory of the heroes of World War II, and calls on all social forces to denounce the act of shameless vandalism!
