The African Regional Commission meeting on the for the preparation and conduction of the 19th WFYS

The African Regional Commission meeting on the preparation and holding of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students was held on August 12-13 in Maputo (Mozambique). Roman Kononenko and Olga Nilova represented the National Preparatory Committee of Russia.

On August 12, in the morning, delegates visited the Solemn celebration of the International Youth Day in Matola (Mozambique). The event was organized and hosted by OJM, the National Youth Organization of Mozambique. With welcoming words, the guests of the celebration were: Secretary of the OJM Central Committee for International Cooperation Milton Valente, President of the Pan African Youth Union, Francine Muyumba, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Alberto Nkutumula, etc. The celebration was accompanied by artistic performances by local youth.

In the afternoon, a meeting of the African Regional Commission for the preparation and holding of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students was held. Representatives of the National Preparatory Committees of Russia, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Uganda, Chad, South Africa, as well as representatives of the Pan African Youth League took part in the meeting. WFDY Vice-President for the African Region Naftali Kambung chaired the meeting. On the agenda of the meeting were issues such as transfer, internal logistics, visa procedures of the region’s participants, etc. The first working day of the Commission was concluded with a solemn reception at the President of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.

On August 13 the meeting was continued. The presentation of the report of the Russian NPC on the preparation for the 19th WFYS became the part of the second day of the work, as well as the activities within the framework of the Africa Day program and possible forms of strengthening the coordination of the preparatory process of the Festival in the African region.
