The International Youth Media Center was presented for Russian-language press abroad

The presentation of the World Festival of Youth and Students in the frameworks of the XVIII World Congress of Russian Press took place on October 20 in Paris. The head of the National Preparatory Committee of the Festival and the Chairperson of the National Council of Youth and Students — Gregory Petushkov told everyone about the major international youth event, which will be held in Russia in 2017.

He made a particular emphasis in the speech on the upcoming launch of the International Youth Media Center and invited representatives of the Russian media to work together.

«Taking into account the target audience of the Congress, I think it is important to note that the international youth media center will work on the basis of the Festival. Media Centers’ key task is to collect the community of concerned journalists, bloggers and other media representatives, who have their own audience, who will be able to bring timely and accurate information about the Festival, as well as actively participate in the discussions. Media center’s success depends on you and your colleagues, so we are pleased to invite everyone, who is present here, to work together on this project with us. To wink yourself you don’t have to be in Sochi, you can do it now: media center will work from November, as a virtual platform form meanwhile. We are open to any constructive suggestions! For the National Preparatory Committee as an organization dedicated to the formation of the international image of the Festival, news coverage in Russian-speaking foreign sources is critically important. That is why we look forward to your ideas and productive joint cooperation», — underlined Grigory Petushkov.

The presentation aroused stormy interest among assembled journalists. Many of them have expressed willingness to support the event in the information field, to establish working with Russian-speaking diasporas in their countries.

A day earlier, Russian spiritual and cultural center opened on the Quai Branly, in Paris. Symbolically, the first plenary session of the Russian Press Congress passed it in the cultural center and it was the first event in the walls of the complex. The Russian Federation Culture Minister Vladimir Medinskiy, who read the Greetings to the participants of the Congress of the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, attended the ceremony. «This format is very important for the consolidation of the Russian-language media space all over the world!» – Quotation from Greeting.

More than 300 journalists representing 500 leading Russian media from 63 countries of the world, professional journalists’ associations and unions became the participants of the Russian Press Congress.

 

The World Association of Russian Press (WARP) became the organizer of the event with the Cooperation Fund for the Russian-language foreign press and News agency TASS Russia.
