International forum “Social Diplomacy in Action”

International forum “Social Diplomacy in Action” took place in Krasnodar with the information support of the Gorchakov Fund.

According to information provided by organizers of the conference to press service of the Gorchakov Fund, leaders of international youth non-governmental organizations from Austria, Great Britain, Palestine, Tunisia, Poland, Greece, Hungary, Armenia, Lebanon, Albania and Macedonia for three days had been studying the basics of social diplomacy.

On the first day, non-governmental organizations from the Krasnodar Territory presented their activities to the foreign guests. They shared the best practices related to implementation of youth initiatives in the fields of ecology, robotics technology, sign language and volunteering.

Many projects sparked interest among the foreign attendees of the forum and the participants exchanged contacts. They look forward to developing their own projects together.

During the second day, national and cultural NGOs of Kuban spoke to the foreign guests using the dance language. Master classes on Russian, Greek, Armenian, Assyrian and other dances, including Lezginka, brought everyone together into a circle dance of friendship.

The third day was dedicated to sports diplomacy. Problems of the world of sport were discussed by the participants at Kuban State University of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism. Despite seriousness of the topics discussed, the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The attendees openly talked about problems of healthy living and shared their personal experience related to implementation of projects targeting engagement into sports.

International forum “Social Diplomacy in Action” is a new turn in development and promotion of the national interests of Russia abroad.

The forum was held at the initiative of member of the State Dum of the Federal Assembly of Russia Dmitry Pirogov.

The project was supported by the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Media support and guidance are provided by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, Autonomous Non-Profit Organization for Studies and Social Diplomacy “International Center Falcogroup”, non-governmental program of the European Union for exchange of students and instructors Erasmus+ and Charity Foundation “Accessible Sport”.

The second part of the forum was held in Moscow on April 11-13. The participants met with experts of the Russian International Affairs Council, members of the State Duma and representatives of the Civic Chamber of Russia.
