The National Youth Council of Russia held the Regular report-elective conference, which, according to its Charter, the Association is obliged to organize at least once every three years.
The following issues were on the agenda: summing up of the work for the period from 2014-2016, admitting new members and excluding several from the membership of the Association, election of the governing and controlling bodies, approving the main activities for 2017-2020.
The conference was opened by the Chairman of the National Council Grigory Petushkov, who addressed the audience with a report on the implementation of the tasks for the reporting period. «The activity of the National Council from 2014-2016 was based on the mission of the Association, which we formulated at the last Conference: “Uniting the efforts of youth and children’s public associations for responsible, creative participation in the development of Russia”», he stressed. According to Petushkov, most of the tasks outlined in the Development Strategy for 2014-2016, managed to be fulfilled.
The head of the international department of the Apparatus of the National Council Lukiana Suvorova spoke about the main results of the activity for the reporting period and outlined the goals for the future. «Much has been done, but much remains to be done! Among the plans is the creation of the Comprehensive Program to Increase Youth Mobility in the Countries of the Eurasian Council, and the establishment of the Association of Young Compatriots, the development of the cooperation through the OSCE, CSTO, the receipt of the Consultative Status for UNESCO and much more!», — she noted.
By a unanimous decision of the Board, the work of the National Council during the reporting period was deemed satisfactory.
The Conference approved a new Strategy for the development of the Association for 2017-2020. The activities of the National Council in the specified period will be carried out in the following key areas: raising the status of the National Council as a key consolidating platform for youth and children’s public associations, socially-oriented NGOs and expert communities in the field of youth policy; consolidation of the youth movement; development of the regulatory framework; expert support of SYP activities; international youth cooperation and work with compatriots abroad; information policy for the youth, methodical and personnel support; intercultural dialogue, etc.
By the decision of the Board, a new membership of the governing bodies of the National Council was approved. Grigory Petushkov was unanimously re-elected as a Chairman of the Association. Head of the All-Russian Rescue Students’ Corps Avetisov Alexey and coordinator of the international programs of the Apparatus of the National Council Bolotnov Alexander were elected as a deputy Heads and Popova Olga was unanimously re-elected to the post.
During the Conference, three new organizations were admitted to the National Council: the International Association of Student Television «MAST» (“IAST”); All-Russian public organization «Union of Volunteers of Russia»; Rostov Regional Youth Public Organization «Donskoy Union of Youth».
At the end of the meeting, all representatives of the Association’s affiliates received certificates confirming membership, as well as commemorative signs and letters dated to the 25th anniversary of the National Youth of Russia.
