Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development
Nikita is a student of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, School of International Relations and International Law. Within the Diplomatic Academy International Model United Nations Nikita is actively engaged in the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals, development of partnerships with representatives of Russian and foreign higher education institutions.
At present, Nikita is engaged in organization and conduct of events, scientific and educational activities. He is a Secretariat Member, Deputy Secretary-General for the Diplomatic Academy International Model UN, as well as project activities coordinator at the Center for Oriental Studies, International Relations and Public Diplomacy.
– Which global trends do you think will have the greatest impact on our future? How important is it for countries to work together to cope with these trends — or is it irrelevant?
– The quantitative accumulation of negative trends, the escalation of tensions in the modern world clearly symbolize the geopolitical bifurcation point, becoming a stumbling block in stabilizing the international system. At the same time, the risks associated with the latest technology, cyber warfare and new forms of WMD indicate a qualitative change in modern threats. Obviously, the fight against destructive elements should be accompanied by close cooperation at all levels of international cooperation.
– What would you advise the UN Secretary-General to do to address the global challenges?
– The crisis volatility of socio-political development calls for a comprehensive dialogue on a range of issues. At the same time, despite the turbulence, globalization processes contribute to a smoother resolution of acute issues within the framework of international organizations.
In the current context, the interpenetration of global processes has brought to the forefront the preservation and maintenance of the United Nations as a universal negotiation platform. The indispensability of comprehensive dialogue, consensus mechanisms, the rule of international law, and the establishment of a just and sustainable world order are the key guiding principles on which international interaction under the auspices of the United Nations should be based today.
