International Youth Forum «For mutual understanding in the Caucasus»

The first forum was held in 2011 in the city of Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkar Republic. The second one was held in 2014 in the city of Grozny, Czech Republic. The third forum is scheduled for 2016 and will be held in the city of Makhachkala, Dagestan Republic.

This international youth forum is an initiative organized by the National Council of Youth and Children’s Associations of Russia. The purpose of the forum is the creation of educational space to increase youth participation, intercultural dialogue and humanitarian cooperation in the Caucasus.

Objectives:

  • To create a sustainable motivation for cooperation and project activities aimed at positive changes in the life of the local community;
  • To promote trust, tolerance and social cohesion of young people in the Caucasus through intercultural dialogue;
  • To update the agenda of youth policy in the Caucasus;
  • To create the conditions for effective communication and long-term cooperation between  participants;
  • To contribute to the development of friendly contacts among youth of the Caucasus;
  • To provide a platform for the development of joint projects.

The participants of the project are leaders and activists of student and youth public organizations from Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, who are actively involved in implementation of the projects relating to intercultural dialogue and international youth cooperation.

In the future, the IYF can become officially and internationally recognized as a permanent informal expert platform for the youth of the Caucasus region to conduct open discussions on cooperation and interaction, where common problems are discussed and  joint solutions are developed.
